Haleyville man dies from injuries sustained in April 29, crash

TUSCUMBIA - A two-vehicle crash on the morning of April 29, has claimed the life of a Haleyville man. 

Jack Kemp, 81, of Haleyville, passed away May 9, at Huntsville Hospital from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred on U.S. Highway 43 at the intersection of County Road 61 just south of Tuscumbia, according to troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, which is investigating the accident. 

Kemp was driving a  2002 Pontiac Grand Prix April 29, when he was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Elizabeth Vandiver Hester, 71, of Tuscumbia, AL.  Kemp was airlifted from the scene to Huntsville Hospital, according to the trooper report.
