LYNN - While the Lynn Bears were taking care of business on the baseball diamond Tuesday, March 9, the Lynn Lady Bears were doing the same thing on the softball field, defeating Brilliant 20-4.
Ashley Aldridge drove in runs on a double in the first, a double in the second, and a single in the third.
Brilliant scored three runs in the first inning, but the Lady Bears still managed to pull out the victory. Brianna O’Mary, Morgan Guyton and Lillie Wright all drove in runs in the frame.
The Lady Bears pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. Ella Brown drew a walk, scoring one run. Kamri Tittle singled on the first pitch at bat, scoring one run. Aldridge doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Sadie Tittle singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Breanna Barton tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and Anna Hosler singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Lynn put up eight runs in the third inning. Brown, Aldridge, Tittle, Barton, Hosler, and Brown all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Chloe Gilliland earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for Lynn. She surrendered one run on one hit over three innings, striking out five and walking zero.
Azia Handley took the loss for Brilliant. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing 16 hits and 20 runs while striking out four.
Barton started the game for Lynn. The righty went one inning, allowing three runs on zero hits and striking out three
Lynn racked up 16 hits in the game. Tittle, Aldridge, Barton, Hosler, and Tittle each had multiple hits for the Lady Bears. Hosler, Barton, Aldridge and Tittle all had three hits to lead the Lady Bears.
Natalie Beasley went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Brilliant in hits.
