New retailer possible for Haleyville

HALEYVILLE - It appears that Haleyville will soon be the first Northwest Alabama location for a store in the Roses chain.
Mayor Ken Sunseri and four members of the Haleyville City Council voted during their Monday, Aug. 2, meeting to provide a three-year or $30,000 (whichever comes first) tax abatement for Sparks, LLC, which owns the former Fred’s building.  Owner Randy Sparks approached Sunseri and the council during a public hearing prior to the council meeting regarding the tax abatement, stating it would be necessary in order for him to bring in a chain store under the Roses Discount Stores brand.
Roses is the corporate name for a variety of stores across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana.   Stores that fall under the Roses banner are Roses Express, Maxway, Super 10, Bargain Town, Bill’s Dollar Store and Super Dollar.
