Local angels help DHR make season bright
DOUBLE SPRINGS - “I love getting gifts, but last Christmas, I didn’t get anything. I must be bad,” one eight-year-old boy told a Winston County Department of Human Resources employee recently. Santa Claus did not get to come see him last year, but that won’t happen this year, thanks to local individuals and businesses who have made sure the county’s foster children will have a happy Christmas morning.
Addison plans parade and Christmas In the Park
ADDISON - Known as the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas in Addison is a big event, celebrated on the second Saturday every December. Christmas In the Park and the annual Christmas parade will continue this year on Dec. 12, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, although there will be one change.
Christmas in the City hometown festival set for Dec. 5

Tis the season for snowflake lights
HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Street Department has been busy installing snowflake holiday nights on utility poles throughout the city beginning this week, with plans to be completed by next week, noted Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri. It takes the city workers about a week to put all of the snowflakes on the poles, Sunseri said. The snowflakes will be up on the poles and all aglow for the city's annual Christmas parade, set Friday, Dec. 7.
