Powell takes the reins of Meek football


The Meek High School Tigers. The jersey for #12 Trint Ory is being held by Ory Frith and David Tidwell. Trint lost his life in a wreck in April and would have been a junior this year.
ARLEY - Houston Powell’s first year at the helm of the Meek Tiger football program is already full of challenges thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but one the team will rise up and overcome, just as they plan to do with their opponents this season.

A Meek graduate at 103


Major Lee Wooten proudly displays his diploma from Meek High School. He graduated this year at 103.
MADISON - “At our age, we’ve heard everything, we’ve seen everything, but we just don’t remember everything,” Major Lee Wooten laughed.

HOOVER - The Meek High School Band has truly lived up to its name - The Band of Champions - by earning top honors in 1A at the second annual Alabama State Marching Band Championship.

Meek goes green


These cans are at Meek schools for recycling. High School Principal Marla Murrah hopes to reduce garbage by up to 50 percent.
ARLEY - Members of the Arley Women’s Club, Meek school principals and educators from Camp McDowell Environmental Center held planning meetings recently to further the club’s recycling program.
