Alabamian all-star basketball team named

Coach of the Year, Scott Veal, Phillips

Phillips High School head girls basketball coach Scott Veal has been selected as the Northwest Alabamian Coach of the Year, bringing home a 1A state championship.

All-star team members are: Addison-Macey Butler, Savannah Manley and Destiny Walker; Haleyville-Catie Aldridge, Molly Gilbert, Reagan Kutis and Alli Temple; Lynn-Hannah Alsup and Dixie Wells; Meek-Emma Fincher, Abby Phillips and Savannah Smith; Phillips-Baily Bishop, Lexie Dishner, Gracie Hallman, Amber Markham and Ally McCollum; Winston County-Saige Blanton and Kady Bonds.

HHS girls basketball team recognized

A banquet was held Sunday, March 31, in the Ninth Avenue Church of Christ fellowship hall to honor the Haleyville High School varsity and junior varsity basketball teams. Double Springs 10U takes Northwest Alabama basketball youth championship

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Double Springs youth basketball league’s 10U captured the 10U Northwest Alabama Youth Basketball championship in February, hosted in Double Springs. The  team had to play the second Double Springs team in the championship round. The team finished with an 11-0 record. The 8U team was runner-up in their division, finishing with an undefeated regular season record. Adam Veal served as head coach for the teams.
