WCHS hands Sumiton Christian 46-7 loss

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Yellow Jackets slammed Sumiton Christian Thursday night, Oct. 24, by a score of 46-7.
The Yellow Jackets had a total of 401 yards on the ground and had 35 yards in penalties.
WCHS held the visitors to only 96 to yards on the night, with Sumiton Christian hit with 20 yards in penalties.
Winston County will host Lynn Friday, Nov. 1.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - It was senior night for the Winston County Yellow Lady Jackets Thursday, Oct. 17. The Lady Jackets went three straight over Haleyville in close sets, winning 25-18, 25-23 and 28-26.
Senior Mackenzie Blackwood was also recognized for reaching 1,000 kills at the recent Winston County Volleyball Tournament.
Stats for the Lady Jackets include:
Elle Donaldson, 18 digs, 4 aces;
Mackenzie Blackwood, 14 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace;

REMLAP  - One thing can be said about the Winston County Yellow Jackets: they played their hearts out against the Southeastern Mustangs even againt opposition.
The Southeastern Mustangs had the final say with a 25-16  victory in the griddy regional matchup Friday night, Oct. 18.
The Yellow Jackets played hard but were hit with penalties at the most inopportune moments of the ball game, stated Head Coach Mark Mitchell.

Addison claims Winston County VB champs title

DOUBLE SPRINGS  -  The reigning 2018 2A volleyball state champions are now the 2019 Winston County champs. Addison won the title Saturday, Oct. 12, at Winston County High School.
Addison defeated Lynn in the first varsity match of the morning, 25-5, 25-11, 25-5.
The WCHS Lady Jackets defeated Meek in the second match of the morning by a score of 25-18, 27-25 and 25-16.
The championship match featured AHS and Winston County High School, with Addison winning 25-11, 25-17, 20-25, 25-13.

Cold Springs downs Winston 20-14

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Two springs, Cold and Double Springs, clashed on the dreary Friday night, Oct. 11, just as the light rain stopped. The Cold Springs Eagles, from Bremen, soared through the air with 135 passing yards to defeat the Winston County Yellow Jackets, 20-14.
As the game began, Winston County won the coin toss, but decided to defer to the second half and let the Eagles receive the kickoff. ,

ADDISON - The outside temperature said 100 degrees and the action was hot inside the Addison High School gym Thursday, Oct. 3, when the Lady Bulldogs and the Winston County Lady Jackets faced off.
AHS defeated WCHS in three straight matches, 25-20, 25-23, 25-14.

SULLIGENT  - Missed opportunities and turnovers told the big story Friday night, Sept. 20, as to why the Sulligent Blue Devils put the stinger to the Winston County Yellow Jackets 18-6.
The Jackets were entering the matchup 2-2 on the season, knowing they were going to face a good football team, on their opponent’s home turf.
Mistakes, including turnovers, however, spelled trouble for the Jackets, after the Blue Devils charged out of the gate and took the opening kickoff.

WCHS splits with Carbon Hill and Curry

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets got off to a slow start, losing their first set to Carbon Hill 25-16, Monday, Sept. 16.
WCHS fired up their engines in the next two sets to win the match 25-18 and 16-14.
The Lady Jackets hosted a tri-match with Carbon Hill and Curry, losing to the Curry Yellow Jackets.
In the Carbon Hill match, leading stats for the Lady Jackets were:
