WCHS wins in close match over HHS

DOUBLE SPRINGS - It was senior night for the Winston County Yellow Lady Jackets Thursday, Oct. 17. The Lady Jackets went three straight over Haleyville in close sets, winning 25-18, 25-23 and 28-26.
Senior Mackenzie Blackwood was also recognized for reaching 1,000 kills at the recent Winston County Volleyball Tournament.
Stats for the Lady Jackets include:
Elle Donaldson, 18 digs, 4 aces;
Mackenzie Blackwood, 14 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace;
Makayla Lindsey, 10 kills, 7 digs, 1 block, 1 ace;
Ella Moore, 2 blocks, 4 digs, 1 kill;

Addison claims Winston County VB champs title

DOUBLE SPRINGS  -  The reigning 2018 2A volleyball state champions are now the 2019 Winston County champs. Addison won the title Saturday, Oct. 12, at Winston County High School.
Addison defeated Lynn in the first varsity match of the morning, 25-5, 25-11, 25-5.
The WCHS Lady Jackets defeated Meek in the second match of the morning by a score of 25-18, 27-25 and 25-16.
The championship match featured AHS and Winston County High School, with Addison winning 25-11, 25-17, 20-25, 25-13.

Lady Lions lose to Curry in close match

HALEYVILLE - It was an emotional night for the Haleyville Lady Lions, recognizing their three seniors prior to the Curry volleyball match on Monday, Oct. 7.
Seniors honored
Madison Caine, daughter of Starr Pendley and Dave Caine, to date as of  Oct. 4, had 41 aces, 401 kills, 317 digs, 20 assists, 34 solo blocks and 64 block assists;
Laura Lunsford, daughter of Jim Lunsford and Kristi George, had 68 aces, 53 kills, 368 digs, 3 blocks and 637 assists;
Samara Pratt, daughter of Philip Pratt and Kim Pratt, had 22 aces, 87 kills, 199 digs, 38 blocks and 48 assists.

Addison wins Winston County tournament title

WCHS finishes runner-up in county tournament

PHS wins in straight sets over Haleyville and Hamilton

BEAR CREEK - The Phillips High School She Bears’ current record as of Tuesday, Oct. 8 was 23-16. The She Bears added Haleyville and Hamilton to the list of victories, defeating their opponents in straight sets.
Haleyville and PHS played in the first match with the She Bears winning 25-13 and 25-22.
Phillips then put down Hamilton 25-18 and 25-13.
Reported stats for Phillips in the Haleyville match included: Alli Temple, 10 assists, 3 digs, 4 kills;
Gracie Hallman, 9 assists, 3 digs, 4 kills.

Lady Lions take it to fifth set in area loss to Fayette

HALEYVILLE - Area play for the Haleyville Lady Lions and the Fayette County Lady Tigers went five sets Tuesday, Oct. 1. Fayette won the first set 25-13, with Haleyville winning the second 25-23, Fayette the third, 25-13 and Haleyville the fourth 25-23 to send it to number five. Haleyville had the initial lead in the fifth set, but the Lady Tigers were victorious 15-12. The match was hosted by the Lady Lions.
Stats for the Lady Lions included:
Audrey Sibley: 3 aces, 9 digs, 13 kills, 3 assists;
Ashton McCullar: 1 ace, 16 digs, 15 kills;

ADDISON - The outside temperature said 100 degrees and the action was hot inside the Addison High School gym Thursday, Oct. 3, when the Lady Bulldogs and the Winston County Lady Jackets faced off.
AHS defeated WCHS in three straight matches, 25-20, 25-23, 25-14.
