Donations coming in after 7 families displaced in apartment fire


Apartment Complex Manager Darrell Robins shows the generous amount of clothing donations that have been received at the apartment office to help the displaced families.
HALEYVILLE - Seven families, including one with children, have been displaced after a fire damaged or destroyed up to eight units in Building C of Greeleaf Apartments in Haleyville in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 15.

Arley restaurant sustains significant damage in early morning fire

ARLEY - Firefighters with Arley and Helicon responded to a structure fire at Talley O's Restaurant in Arley early Wednesday morning, Dec. 22.  There were no injuries, but there is significant damage to the building.  The Alabamian is working on a full story about the fire, and will have more as it becomes available.

Significant loss of equipment and supplies in barn fire


Firefighters continue to spray water on to all that is left of an outbuilding on a farm off of Macedonia Road near Haleyville.

HALEYVILLE - A structure fire off of Macedonia Road near Haleyville has resulted in the loss of a significant amount of farm equipment and hay bales, as well as spooked livestock on the farm.

Haleyville fire and police, along with other agencies are currently on the scene.   The Alabamian also has a reporter on scene and will have more as it becomes available.

Landmark church burns

NAUVOO - Investigation is underway into a fire which has completely destroyed a landmark church.

One vehicle accident at Waldrop church lands helicopter


The driver of this vehicle was airlifted from the scene. The collision with the telephone pole caused shards of the pole to land in the church parking lot across the street. The pole is in two pieces.
HALEYVILLE - Highway 195 is an accident-prone one, with a second accident happening so far this year. This time it was in Haleyville in front of Waldrop Freewill Baptist Church in a sharp curve.

Barricaded with shotgun and fires burning


The remains of a burned-out doublewide off County Road 28 were still smoldering Monday morning after an allegedly deliberate fire was set at the residence Sunday night.
DELMAR - Multiple structure fires on the same property off County Road 28, including a residence, with reports of shots being fired by the property owner, led multiple law enforcement agencies as well as at least three fire departments to the scene late Sunday night, Nov. 11.

Fire at Lynn Elementary School


Firefighters and others remove items from a classroom at Lynn Elementary School after fire erupts.

LYNN - One kindergarten classroom at Lynn Elementary School has been damaged in a fire this morning, Saturday, Nov. 10.  Lynn, Delmar and Double Springs fire departments are on scene.  According to the Lynn Fire Department, the fire is under control and has been contained.
