WINSTON COUNTY - The Addison High School girls, Haleyville High School boys and Meek High School boys basketball teams made it out of sub-regional play this week with wins and will now be traveling to Wallace State Community College for the Northwest Regionals.
The Class 2A Addison High School girls defeated Aliceville High School 47-35 at home Monday night, Feb. 14, to punch their ticket. They will take on Hatton High School Friday night, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. The Lady Dawgs will go into the game with a 21-9 record, while the Hatton Hornets have an overall 15-10 record.
On Saturday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The Class 4A Haleyville High School boys will have a rematch with Deshler High School. Haleyville soundly defeated Good Hope High School 79-57 at home Tuesday night, Feb. 15, to make it to regionals. This will not be the first time Haleyville has taken on Deshler this basketball season. The Lions traveled to Deshler on December 14, and came home with a 69-66 victory. Haleyville will go into the game with a stellar 23-7 record, while the Deshler Tigers come in with a 16-12 record.
The Class 1A Meek High School boys will continue their impressive basketball season on Monday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m. with a trip to Wallace State to take on the Covenant Christian Eagles at the Northwest Regionals. The Meek Tigers defeated South Lamar 67-45 Tuesday, Feb. 15, to punch their ticket. Meek goes into Monday's game with an 18-9 record. Covenant Christian will enter the game with a 25-6 record.
