ELDRIDGE - The George Tucker Patriot Descendants Association will hold its annual reunion Saturday May 17, at White’s Chapel Community Center, 16306 County Road 53 in Eldridge.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Please bring a covered dish or two, genealogy and family photos.
A short business meeting will follow lunch and a genealogy session will be held at Jeanette Herron’s home just past White’s Chapel Community Center. Also, those who wish to visit Griggs Tucker Cemetery where War of 1812 Soldier Daniel Tucker, son of George, and Hopewell Cemetery, burial site of Lt. George Tucker, Revolutionary War Soldier, can do so before or after the reunion.
Lt. George Tucker was born December 13, 1745 in Amelia County, Virginia. He was a soldier of the American Revolution in such major battles as Cowpens, both sieges of Augusta, Blackstock Plantation and several others. He filed for his pension at age 88 and was awarded $43 per year for his years of service, while living in Marion County, Alabama.
George lived another 18 years and died at a ripe old age of 106. He has left a great legacy and a long line of descendants. The annual reunion honors this great patriot. Everyone is invited to attend this patriotic annual event. ‘
Directions to White’s Chapel Community Center are as follows: From U.S. 78 turn onto Highway 129 east of Winfield at the Glen Allen sign. Travel two miles to Glen Allen Post Office and bear to left onto Highway 233 and continue about 3/4 mile and turn right. Continue on this road to White’s Chapel Community Center on the right.
