Benefit fishing tournament March 14 to benefit Myra Weems

BEAR CREEK - There will be a benefit fishing tournament Saturday, March 14, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Upper Bear Creek at the Twin Forks ramp.  The entry fee is $50 and lunker fee is $10.

Prizes will be awarded, including a guaranteed $500 for first plaze, $300 for second place and $200 for third place.

The tournament will be held regardless of weather conditions.  No refunds will be give.  Two anglers per boat. 

All fish will be weighed by a pound and ounce system.  Fish must measure 12" with mouth closed and tail rolled.  The exception will be slot on Little Bear.  Large mouth, small mouth and spotted bass only.

No trolling allowed.  Artificial bait only.  No live bait. 

No fishing within 50 yards of an anchored boat and no shoreline fishing.

All boats must be checked by the end of the tournament.  Any boats arriving last will be disqualified.

Fish must be kept in a live well.  Any fish found in questionable condition may not be weighed.  No dead fish!

Anglers must abide by Alabama Fish & Water safety laws.  Anglers must wear lifejackets when operating a gas engine.

No alcoholic beverages.  Tournament officials will not be responsible for any damages, accidents or theft.  Any conditions arising not covered in the rules listed will be resolved by tournament officials, whose decisions will be final.

Proceeds will go to benefit Myra Weems, who is battling cancer and needing assistance with medical expenses.
