Fire departments receive state funds

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Fire Fighters Association met at the Double Springs Municipal Building Tuesday, July 28, for their monthly meeting. Before the business meeting, State Representatives Tracy Estes and Tim Wadsworth distributed checks to each fire department.
Wadsworth mentioned during the budget he and other legislators just finished included an increase for next year’s checks to the fire departments.
“Next year’s ought to be in the $1,800 range,” Wadsworth said. “This year is $1,283.”
A letter from Gov. Kay Ivey was read, in where she thanked the fire departments for their hard work.
“You protect the people of your community,” Ivey said.
Representatives from Addison, Arley, Ashridge Black Pond, Central, Delmar, Double Springs, Haleyville and Lynn were in attendance. Helicon and Pebble did not attend.
