County awarded millions for road projects

WINSTON COUNTY - A record amount of funding has poured into Winston County within the past year to resurface much needed roadways, with the latest two projects totaling $3.3 million in federal dollars, boosting not only recreation, but also tourism and economic development.
Travel advisory in effect for county roads
WINSTON COUNTY - Winston County Commission Chairman David Cummings reports that, as of Sunday night, Jan. 25, a check of various roads in Winston County showed that moisture from recent rainfall has dried, but since temperatures are drastically dropping into the teens, a travel advisory is in effect for all county roads, due to the potential for ice on roadways and bridges. Travel is not advised but if necessary, motorists need to use extreme caution due to possible black ice and slick road conditions, Cummings said.
Aderholt secures funding for Winston County road improvements
WINSTON COUNTY - Congressman Robert Aderholt announced Friday, January 23, that he has secured $1,553,000 in federal funding for critical road improvements in Winston County, as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills passed by the U.S. House of Representatives.

WINSTON COUNTY - Just after press time Tuesday, January 20, the Alabamian received word from the Winston County Extension Service that the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program had closed their application window for 2026.
