Haleyville PD urges parents to practice safety this Halloween

HALEYVILLE - The night of spooks, spirits and shadowy shapes commences tomorrow night, Thursday, Oct. 31, as droves of little goblins will be out roaming the streets in search of...candy.
These little goblins, also known as trick-or-treaters, will be out and about seeking candy, especially at two of the city’s busiest areas Halloween night--15th Avenue and 11th Avenue also known as Kelly Hill, city officials confirmed.

Haleyville man dies in crash attempting to elude police

HALEYVILLE -  A 35-year-old Haleyville man has reportedly died from injuries suffered during a vehicle crash, as he was attempting to elude the Haleyville Police Department during an early Friday, May 3 pursuit.

The crash, which occurred around 150 a.m. on Marion County Road 62 near Slaughter Pen Road, claimed the life of Joshua H. Cosby, according to troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. 

Cosby was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma that left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned, while he was attempting to elude Haleyville Police,  troopers said.

HALEYVILLE - The family of Jacob "Jake" Hutcheson, 38, of Haleyville, has not seen or had contact with him in over a week and is asking for the public's help to locate him.

Police seeking three individuals involved in pharmacy break-in

HALEYVILLE - During the early morning hours of Friday, Sept. 29, three individuals are believed to have arrived at Major’s Drugs on Highway 13 in a silver Chrysler vehicle, according to Police Chief Rodney Lewis. Two of the individuals got out of the vehicle and forced entry to the pharmacy through the front glass door while the third individual remained in the vehicle.

Members of the Haleyville Fire Department, suited up in protective gear, wash off a transport truck that was hauling animal by-products on Highway 13 when it lost a portion of its load Tuesday morning.
HALEYVILLE - A trip through Haleyville during the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 8, turned into a potentially hazardous situation for a Pilgrim's Pride transport service driver, but the quick action and training of first responders kept the situation from becoming too serious.
