Area bands receive budget boosts

State Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, who represents the fourth district, has given $5,000 community service grants to every high school band in the district, including those in Winston County and Bear Creek, contributing a total of $90,000 to 18 music programs.
He and his team, including Director of Constituent Affairs Randall Shedd, spent all of Monday, Sept. 8, traveling Cullman, Marion and Winston counties to present checks to the majority of the band programs, a few having received theirs previously.

ARLEY - Now that the interior of the future Arley-Smith Lake Senior Outreach Center has been gutted by numerous volunteers, the hard part begins, with donations desperately needed to finance the renovation.

ARLEY - The Church at Arley, located three miles south of the town on County Road 41, has received many donations, including much needed medical equipment, which is being sent to Nomedjoh, Cameroon, just north of the equator in west Africa. It had 712 inhabitants in 2005.
