LAKESHORE - A revival is about to take place at the site which once housed Looney’s Tavern complex and amphitheater, and it is not a church meeting.

The cast of "Virgil's Wedding" take their bows on opening night.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Free State Theater Troupe's production of "Virgil's Wedding," directed by Beth Wilson Gilbreath, opened last night at Double Springs Middle School. A musical comedy full of surprises, "Virgil's Wedding" features nineteen talented young actors from across Winston County. With very natural, nigh on flawless performances, they keep the audience laughing throughout--except when they sing. Then a hush falls. There are two more chances to attend: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, in the DSMS gym.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Organizers of the annual Empty Bowls dinner benefitting both the Winston County Arts Council and Main Street Ministries have waited nearly two years for the event to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Empty Bowls to benefit two local non-profits

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Empty Bowls and full hearts will be the case when hundreds of people gather Thursday, Oct. 11, to enjoy hearty fellowship and a variety of delectable soups while raising funds to help two worthy causes.
