Local students named to AHSAA prep spotlights

WINSTON COUNTY - The fall sports seasons may be young, but local athletes are already making their mark.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association releases prep spotlights for football, volleyball and cross country each week during the fall, and several athletes within the Alabamian's coverage area have been named to these lists.  Those athletes are as follows:

Football (week 1):

Lynn High School:  Quarterback Cale Tittle was 10-of-15 passing for 122 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing 21 times for 89 yards to lead the Bears past the Marion County Red Raiders 31-14 in their season opener.

Lynn High School:  Cole Kelly had 119 rushing yards and two touchdowns, as well as caught a 26-yard pass in Lynn's victory over Marion County.

Volleyball (week 2):

Addison High School:  Abby Waldrep had 18 blocks and 29 kills over three matches.

Winston County High School:  Bella Wakefield had 20 blocks and 49 kills in nine matches.

Football (week zero):

Meek High School:  Cameron Deaver rushed 34 times for 298 yards and 4 touchdowns in Meek's  36-12 victory over Maplesville.

Meek High School:  Braylen Roberts recorded 10 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in the win over Maplesville.

Volleyball (week 1):

Addison High School:  Gracie Manley led the Lady Dawgs to the Smith Lake Invitational Tournament championship with 126 assists, 20 kills, 28 digs and 10 aces.
