WINSTON COUNTY - All three homes raided in a major drug sweep across the county last week were within close distance of a school campus.
The first drug sweep, which hit a residence at 1715 14th Avenue in Haleyville, three blocks from the Haleyville City Schools campus, occurred Sept. 18, according to law enforcement.
At the 14th Avenue residence, marijuana plants were found growing in a garden along with tomatoes. Marijuana, meth and paraphernalia were found inside the residence, sheriff’s officials stated.
The second drug sweep, occurring in Addison, hit two residences on McHann Road, near the campuses of Addison Schools, authorities added.
At these locations, fentanyl, which is deadly not only to ingest, but to even touch, was found mixed with meth, sheriff’s officials pointed out.
Arrested in the bust that occurred at 1715 14th Avenue in Haleyville were Megan Alana Hooker, 39, of 820 Bankhead Drive, Haleyville, charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude;
Chasity Leann Kelley, 38, of 411 County Highway 145, Haleyville, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia;
Rickie Lee Comeens, 69, of 1715 14th Avenue, charged with possession of marijuana first degree, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia--all according to Winston County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jacob Eward.
Arrested at the drug sweep on McHann Road in the early morning hours of Sept. 19, were David Lee Peppers, 67, of 630 McHann Road, charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute meth, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia;
Janna Roberts, 39, of 630 McHann Road, charged with possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia;
Brandon Christopher Laney, 28, of 1366 County Road 1655, Cullman, charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia;
Stephanie DeAnn Cooperman, 42, of 10587 County Road 63, Houston, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia-- Eward added.
When someone is accused of a crime, it is merely an accusation until or unless the person is found guilty in a court of law.
