Byler Road Project topic for WCGS meeting June 18

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Byler Road Historian Joel Mize will be the guest speaker for the Winston County Genealogical Society meeting Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Winston County Archives, located across from the Winston County Courthouse on Highway 195 in Double Springs.

Mize has researched and studied the Byler Road., which runs through Winston County, for decades and has had a book published on the topic.

At the meeting, he will  present his findings on the road and give an update on the current tourism project regarding it, which is being funded in part by the Alabama Department of Tourism. The project is being led by State Representative Tracy Estes with assistance from a team of professionals from across the state.  The University of Alabama Center for Economic Development is serving as project manager.

All persons interested in local and regional history or local tourism are invited to attend.
