Ben John Kerny

Ben John Kerny, 82, of Addison, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Safe Harbor Unit in the Birmingham Veteran’s Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1941, in Budapest, Hungary to Jἀnos and Erzsèbet “Pump” Kerny. Ben proudly and faithfully served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he retired after 21 years. After retiring, Ben enjoyed raising cattle. He then pursued another twenty-year career as a truck driver for Alabama Carriers out of Birmingham. He was a 50-year mason and was a member of the Addison Masonic Lodge. 

Ben is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda Ann Rogers Kerny; children, Elizabeth Mullins, Susan Partridge and her husband David and Ben John Kerny, Jr and his wife Maria; grandchildren, Jonathan Peck and his wife Christina, Allison Moore,  Matthew Peck, Rachel Bennett and her husband Cliff, Hannah Argo-Peck, Stephen Peck and his wife Abbey, Dana Lindley, Tori Partridge and Garrett Masters, Efrosini Kerny, and Ben John Kerny III and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jἀnos Bela Kerny and Erzèbet “Pump” Kuves Kerny.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.   Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family.
