Tuesday storms and high winds leave damage in their wake


A large tree crashed into an occupied home on 32nd Street in Haleyville Tuesday, March 4, as a line of thunderstorms was passing through the area. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries.

WINSTON COUNTY - A fast moving line of thunderstorms, as well as very gusty winds outside of storms Tuesday, March 4, have left significant damage in their wake.

A tree fell on the Beckmann residence on 32nd Street in Haleyville as the storm line moved through Tuesday night.  A woman in the residence at the time of the storm was able to escape without injury.

Additional structural damage was reported at Lynn, along with numerous reports of trees and power lines down throughout Winston County.  As of Wednesday morning, March 5, over 200 people were without power in Winston County, along with over 350 in Marion County, according to poweroutage.us.

The following is a round-up of storm reports from Winston and surrounding counties submitted to the National Weather Service offices in Birmingham and Huntsville for Tuesday, March 4:

 

12:50 p.m.  Large tree uprooted and down across Summit Road in Baileyton in Cullman County.

4:21 p.m.:  Tree down on a residence one mile north of Moulton.

4:22 p.m.:  Grassfire started by lightning in Hamilton.  Multiple fires throughout the county from lightning and downed power lines.

4:40 p.m. - Non-thunderstorm wind gust of 42 mph in Winfield.

6:39 p.m.  Non-thunderstorm wind gust of 46 mph in Haleyville

7:10 p.m.  Trees and power lines down in a couple of locations in Hamilton.

7:13 p.m.  Tree and power pole down in Haleyville.

7:19 p.m.  Power lines down with a small fire in the Tucker community of Marion County.

7:24 p.m.  Multiple trees down in East Franklin.

7:24 p.m.  Trees and power lines down along Franklin Highway 75 near Phil Campbell.

7:24 p.m.  Trees and power lines down along Franklin County Road 175 near Phil Campbell.

7:24 p.m.  Trees and power lines down southeast of Russellville.
