HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting Friday, March 1, in the courtroom at Haleyville City Hall.  Stephanie Childers, executive director of United Way of Cullman County, was the guest speaker at the meeting.

Childers gave a report of the recent fundraiser in Double Springs for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Winston County, a resource the United Way of Cullman County helped implement in Winston County.  Childers said the event raised $21,000.  The state will match this amount, therefore, providing $42,000 for Winston County's Dolly Parton Imagination Library fund.  Childers noted that there are 580 children in Winston County currently signed up to receive a free book through the mail each month through the Imagination Library program.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library serves children up to age 5.  To learn more or to sign up your child, click here.

Childers also noted that more Winston County representation is needed on the United Way board.

The Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce meets the first Friday of each month at 12 p.m. in the courtroom of Haleyville City Hall.
