DOUBLE SPRINGS - The end of a school year means numerous personnel issues are being handled by the Winston County Board of Education, including retirements, resignations and hirings, including the creation of a Addison Elementary Assistant Principal’s position, to prepare for a new school year in August.
“We ask that you be with all of our teachers, faculty and staff as the year is closed out,” board member Randy Lee offered in prayer, led to begin the board meeting. “Just keep them safe, Lord.”
The board at their regular meeting April 28, named Cindy Hastings to the newly created position of Addison Elementary Assistant principal, effective Aug. 1.
This marks the first time that AES has had an assistant principal, due to state rules regarding the amount of enrollment requiring an assistant principal position, according to Winston County Schools Superintendent Jeff Scott.
“To my knowledge, we have never an assistant, because we’ve always been at 500 (enrollment),” Scott explained. “Last year, they dropped that back to 300, and this year, our enrollment over there went over 300, so we earned an assistant principal.”
