Larry E. Brewer

Larry E. Brewer, 87, of Jasper, formerly of Double Springs, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025.

He worked diligently from the young age of 14 in many different roles in various occupations - most notably, serving as a Patriot in the Alabama National Guard for over 10 years and as a community leader as Mayor of Double Springs from 1973 to 1977. Being no stranger to hard work, Mr. Brewer retired from the private sector after 20-plus years with Belk in Jasper at the age of 84.

This afforded him more time to focus on the jobs nearest to his heart as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

He loved quail hunting with his best friends, watching NASCAR, football, baseball, any and all Auburn University athletics and was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Double Springs.

In honoring Larry wishes, there will be only a graveside service on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs, with Bro. George Whitten officiating.  Pinkard Funeral Home will direct.

He is survived by a son, Terry Brewer (Jane), daughters, Phyllis Willmon (Charley) and Cindy Sherer (Larry); stepdaughter, Mitzi Thrasher; grandchildren, Chrystal Shaddix (Patrick), Barrett Brewer and Jason Newman (April); step-grandchildren, Nin Long (Jeff), Adam Anderson, John Tyler Anderson; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Elmo and Lois Brewer; wife, Faye Brewer; wife Barbara Brewer; brothers, Joe and Murray Brewer and stepson, Jeff Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in memory of Larry Brewer to the First Baptist Church Double Springs Mission Fund, 197 Main Street Double Springs, AL. 35553 or to Gentiva Hospice, 74 Industrial Parkway, Jasper, AL. 35501.

The family would like to give a heartfelt Thank You to Gentiva Hospice and their care team - Ashley, Tiffany, Bailey, Amanda, Wayne and Eric. They are angels on Earth.
