ADDISON - Although another July 4 parade and festival for the Town of Addison may be in the books after a good crowd for the fireworks show finale, organizers have approached the town council with issues that should be resolved before future festivals.
Members of the Addison Fire Department approached the town council at its Monday, July 5, meeting, with several concerns that arose from this year’s festival.
Fire Chief Mark Wilson began by asking the council if the fireworks could be moved from Addison Schools ballfields to Alexander Park, where live entertainment and vendors are already set up for the festival.
“I know we have talked about it before,” said Wilson. “That would be a lot easier for us to take care of and it would be a lot less liability and everything.”
A concern arose about the debris fallout from fireworks being shot landing in a nearby pond, as well as repeated concerns of people trying to leave before the parade made its final pass.
