Bear Creek council seat to be filled by governor

BEAR CREEK - The Bear Creek Town Council found out they were three days past the deadline to have selected a council member to fill the vacancy left by Chris Hyde’s resignation in early November, so the office of Governor Kay Ivey will now have to intervene and make the appointment.
The town council on Nov. 5, 2018, voted to approve the resignation of Hyde and also voted that night to declare a vacancy in his council seat.
Council members were under the impression they had 180 days or up to six months to fill the vacancy.
