TUSCUMBIA - The Haleyville Lady Lions softball team took the lead late in the game in an 11-8 victory over Deshler on Tuesday, April 9. The game was tied at seven with Lady Lions batting in the top of the sixth when Kaylee Riddle drew a walk, scoring a run.
Lady Lions was boosted by Hailie Moody, who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Moody doubled in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the sixth, and doubled in the seventh.
Deshler opened up an early lead in the second inning on a double on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
After HHS scored a run in the top of the fourth, Deshler answered with one of their own. Haleyville scored when Carlie Brazell singled on a 1-1 count, scoring a run.
Ana Aaron pitched the Lady Lions to victory. She went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four and walking one.
Molly Gilbert started the game for the Lady Lions. She allowed seven hits and seven runs over three and a third innings, striking out six
Haleyville scattered 15 hits in the game. Moody, Brazell, and Aaron each collected multiple hits for Lady Lions. Moody went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Lady Lions in hits.
Deshler racked up 11 hits.
