Two Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets pitchers rally together to shutout Brilliant

The Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets softball team defeated Brilliant 20-0 on Monday, April 15, as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.

Emily Hill led WCHS to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-3 at the plate. Hill drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the second, and a single in the third.

Winston County  got things moving in the first inning, scoring a  run when Kanesha Flanagin singled.

The Lady Jackets scored seven runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Makayla Lindsey, Hill, and Madison Comeens, an error on a ball put in play by Flanagin and Brenna Wakefield, and a single by Emily Holt.

A double by Shelby Starnes in the first inning was a positive for Brilliant.

Elle Donaldson led things off on the rubber for WCHS. She surrendered zero runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Sarah Mace was on the rubber for Brilliant. She surrendered 20 runs on 20 hits over four innings, striking out two.

The Lady Jackets racked up 20 hits. Donaldson, Comeens, Hill, Katelyn Bullock, Holt, and Lindsey each collected multiple hits. Hill, Comeens, and Donaldson each collected three hits the offense. 

Mace went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Brilliant in hits.
