Carbon Hill captures lead early to defeat Lady Lions

The Haleyville Lady Lions softball team fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 16-5 loss to Carbon Hill on Monday, April 22. Carbon Hill scored on a single by three Lady Blue Devils in the first inning.

The Lady Lions struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Carbon Hill, giving up 16 runs.

HHS put up three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a home run by Anna Lacy Sartin and by Lauran Wilcoxson.

Carbon Hill scored five runs in the third inning.

Molly Gilbert started the game for Lady Lions. She allowed six hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Sartin threw two innings out of the bullpen.

HHS hit one home run on the day, when Sartin put one out in the fifth inning.

Ana Aaron, Sartin, Reagan Kutis, Hailie Moody, Carlie Pendley, and Wilcoxson each collected one hit to lead Lady Lions.

Carbon Hill collected 13 hits on the day.
