Gavin West was bad news for opposing pitchers on Monday, April 15, driving in five on three hits to lead Haleyville Lions junior varsity past Hamilton 15-8. West drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the second, and a single in the third.
Bats blistered as Haleyville collected nine hits and Hamilton tallied five in the high-scoring game.
The Lions took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second West doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Kaleb Garrett got the win for Haleyville. He surrendered seven runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three. Josh Weaver threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Lions tallied nine hits in the game. West and Camden Smith all managed multiple hits. West went 3-for-3 at the plate.
