Winston County edges Addison 3-2 in area tournament

HATTON - Both teams were strong on the rubber Wednesday, May 1, in the 2A Area 14 tournament played at Hatton High School, but Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets softball team defeated Addison 3-2. Elle Donaldson allowed just three hits to Addison.
WCHS opened up scoring in the first inning, when Makayla Lindsey tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Donaldson toed the rubber for the Lady Jackets. She surrendered two runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out three.
Anna Grace Luker was in the pitcher's circle for Addison. She surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
WCHS scattered six hits in the game. Lindsey and Emily Holt all had multiple hits for Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity. Lindsey went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity in hits.
Destiny Walker led Addison with two hits in four at bats. Addison was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Sam Brannon made the most plays with eight.
