TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama awarded some 5,716 degrees during its spring commencement May 3-5.

Among the local degree recipients for the spring semester were:
Mason Alexander Dooley, of Haleyville, Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering;
Brianna Lachelle Frazier, of Phil Campbell, bachelor of arts;
Rachael Hendrix Garrett, of Nauvoo, Bachelor of Science in nursing;
Rhonda Carol Gilliland, of Lynn, Bachelor of Science in nursing.
Bennett Gamble Richards, of Haleyville, Bachelor of Science in human environmental sciences;
Samantha Erin Warren, of Haleyville, bachelor of arts.
