Haleyville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Holly Sutherland issued the following statement Thursday evening, Sept. 26:
"This week, we have been investigating an alleged threat made against Haleyville High School. Thus far, we have found no facts to support this threat.
"The HHS Administration and the Haleyville Police Department will continue to investigate if any new information is brought forward. We have taken this seriously and have worked hard to do a thorough investigation.
"Please be mindful that there are many rumors circulating that are simply not true and names are being used of students who were in no way involved, which is unfortunate.
"Although we will never be able to promise that no incident will ever occur on our campus, we can promise to do everything in our power to protect all students. As a precaution, we will have law enforcement on campus during the pep rally tomorrow and have taken other security measures.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Reed at HHS or Dr. Sutherland.
More information if and when it becomes available.
