Haleyville drops loss to 6A Jasper

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Lions could not get their bats going in the second game on Saturday, Feb. 22. They lost to Jasper 13-1. The Lions lost 4-3 in extra innings to Deshler earlier that morning.
Jasper scored six runs in the sixth inning. Jasper's big inning was driven by a walk by Kaden Shelton, a fielder's choice by Braxton Turnbow, an error on a ball put in play by Jon Burton, and a double by Shelton.
Turnbow was the winning pitcher for Jasper. He surrendered one run on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Seth Davidson and Topher Wilson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Caleb Williams took the loss for Haleyville. He allowed four hits and six runs over four innings, striking out five.
Hayden Tidwell led Haleyville with two hits in three at bats.
Shelton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Jasper in hits.
