WINSTON COUNTY - Two persons with Winston County ties were denied parole March 3, by the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles.
Nicona D. Cowens and Ashley Dewayne Pipkins were both denied parole. Cowens is serving a 15-year sentence for a forgery second degree conviction out of Marion County. She was also convicted of second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument second degree in Winston County, and her eight-year sentence for this conviction is running concurrently with her Marion County conviction. She is housed at the Tutwiler Annex.
Pipkins is serving an eight-year sentence for a conviction in Winston County of manufacturing a controlled substance. He is housed at the North Alabama Community Based Facility/Community Work Center.
