Leland George Pendley, 73, Lynn, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his home. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During that time he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Marksman with M-16 and M-14 fifle. He was a retired machinist from NTN Bower and a member of the Church of God in Bessemer.
A private service will be held. He will be buried at Millstone Mountain Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Barron Pendley; children, Shayla Powell (Spencer), Shane Pendley (Joneece) and Selena Kinard (Cory); sister, Maxine Stockton (Jerry); brother, Scott Pendley (Kasey); grandchildren, Lauren Powell, Ashlyn Lowe, Emma Simpson, Devon Hamilton, Lucas Kinard, Abbigail Kinard, Jairus Pendley, Josiah Pendley, Julia Pendley, Leland Pendley, Lamya Walker, Malia Walker and Cory Law; great-granddaughter, Claire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Edith Pendley; and Baby Brother Pendley. Pinkard Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
