WINSTON COUNTY- The Marion-Winston Counties Community Action Agency has begun making appointments and providing assistance for residential cooling energy bills.
Continuing to observe health and safety recommendations, the office buildings currently remain closed to the public. No walk in appointments can be taken, but appointments can be made and residents will continue to be assisted at each of office locations.
Appointments can be made for Marion and Winston County by calling (205) 921-4224 or (205) 570-2424. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Appointments are currently being set for residents 60 years of age or older, as well as individuals with a disability.
For all other residents, appointments will begin to be made Monday, July 6 and will continue until the end of the cooling season, which has been extended through October or as long as funding allows.
The funding from the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides MWCAA the opportunity to serve the residents of Marion and Winston County from the offices located in Hamilton, Double Springs and Haleyville.
All persons who are in need and qualify are encouraged to reach out for assistance.
