Arley man drowns

HOUSTON -  A 39-year-old Arley man lost his life Monday morning, Aug. 10,  when he reportedly fell out of his boat, leaving it circling in the lake.
Jamey Dewayne Morgan was pronounced dead on the scene by Winston County Deputy Coroner Tracy Yealock, who noted the cause of death was drowning. Morgan’s body was retrieved by officials with the Winston County Sheriff’s Office, who were in a boat provided by Alabama Marine Police Officer Casey Pruitt.  The accident occurred in the area of Dave Wilson Circle at the end of Old Arley Road, officials said.
A white object, which was seen in the water by an overhead check by an ALEA helicopter, led authorities to the spot on the lake where Morgan was found in 8-10 feet of water, noted Winston County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Caleb Snoddy.
Morgan’s body was transported from the scene by the Winston County Coroner’s Office.
A call of a missing person who had fallen out of a boat, came in around 8:45 a.m., resulting in multiple agencies responding to the scene, including the Winston County Sheriff’s Office, Central Fire Department, Winston County Emergency Management, ALEA Marine Police, Regional Paramedical Service Ambulance, the Winston County Coroner’s Office and Arley Police Department.
