Meals sent home Thursday for the holidays

Haleyville Middle School students Lexi Sanchez and Juan Gomez show the boxed food and instructions that are being given out to students this week in preparation for the extended break.

HALEYVILLE - On Thursday, Nov. 19, students enrolled in the Haleyville City School system. and/or their parent or guardian depending on the situation, will need to go to their respective schools on campus for a meal pick up from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Since schools will be going virtual from Wednesday-Friday of this week, plus the week long Thanksgiving break next week, each student will receive three breakfasts and three lunches on Thursday, to cover the remainder of the virtual break leading into the holiday period, noted CNP Director Emma Ann Hallman.

Each student, when he or she  left school on Tuesday to be virual for the remainder of the week, took home a box of food for the holiday, enough for seven breakfasts and seven lunches, Hallman stated. The boxed meals, which will contain items for a Thanksgiving dinner, came complete with preparation instructions, so families would know how to prepare the shelf stable items throughout the upcoming break.

Student will return to the traditional classroom on Monday, Nov. 30.
