BEAR CREEK    -  A new location is ahead for the Bear Creek Police Department, which will not only relocate to the former town hall building but in the process will also establish a dispatch center  and  complete headquarters for police operations.
Police Chief Kenny Hallmark received the OK from Mayor Rob Taylor and the town council to move the police department from a single office in the municipal building across Main Street to the former town hall location, which is also owned by the town.
Costs of the relocation are being trimmed down considerably, since the town of Hackleburg will be donating $8,000 forth of surplus property to the new police headquarters building.
The town will be providing $2,000 worth of costs related to the relocation, including overhead lighting, moving of phone and internet service as well as communication equipment for a new dispatch center, Chief Hallmark stated.
