Water rate increases coming

Water rates increasing for customers in some Winston County cities.

WINSTON COUNTY - Upper Bear Creek Water Authority (UBCWA) has raised its water rates by $.40 per 1,000 gallons, resulting in increases for city water customers in Haleyville and Lynn, effective Dec. 1, and perhaps in more towns in the future.

Pension liabilities problematic for BCDA

Certified Public Accountant Don Wallace goes over the results of the most recent audit with members of the Bear Creek Development Authority at their recent quarterly meeting.

HODGES - The Bear Creek Development Authority is facing an indebtedness of $785,000 related to its pension liabilities paid to the state for retirees, a problem faced by other entities and governmental agencies, and a problem without a solid solution.

Storm shelter planned for Twin Forks

BCDA raises rates

Rates for camping and other activities on waters administered by the Bear Creek Development Authority have increased.

HODGES - Taking action based on a recommendation by the Alabama Sunset Committee, the Bear Creek Development Authority voted unanimously across the board to raise their rates and fees based on an audit conducted of the board’s expenses.
