Winston County’s history on display at Bankhead House

JASPER - The history of Winston County is vast and varied, and now a stately collection of historical artifacts representing the entirety of the county is on display at one location.

Walker Area Foundation presents Wild Alabama $35,000 grant

WINSTON COUNTY - The recent Wild Alabama volunteer picnic was made even sweeter by a visit from the Walker Area Community Foundation.

Arley Women’s Club gives thanks with luncheon

ARLEY - Donors have been the life’s blood of the Arley Women’s Club, and those donors were thanked in a big way recently.

Pocket park planned for Haleyville


This is an artist’s rendering of the park and amphitheater to be located on the vacant lot on Main Street in downtown Haleyville.
HALEYVILLE - What began as an idea to further revitalize Haleyville’s downtown district has blossomed into action, with plans to turn a vacant lot along Main Street into a thriving community park, complete with an amphitheater, landscaping and decorative drawings along the walls of the adjoining building.

WINSTON COUNTY - For the greater good is the mission for many non-profit agencies, and local ones are benefiting from the generosity of a Walker County organization, which are in turn helping the public.
