Qualifying

WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying began Monday, Jan. 5, in preparation for the May 19 primary elections, which will feature such county offices as sheriff, revenue commissioner, both districts of the county commission, as well as several state and federal offices.

WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying for the Tuesday, August 26, municipal elections ended at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 24. The following is an official list of candidates for mayors and councils at each Winston County municipality and Bear Creek in Marion County.

WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying for the August 26 municipal elections, when residents living in municipalities across Winston and Marion counties will head to the polls to vote for their choice of mayor and council members, has already begun.

HALEYVILLE - Qualifying ended Tuesday, May 24, at 5 p.m. for the three places on the Haleyville Board of Education that will be up for election July 12.

For Place 2, candidates who qualified are Boo Haughton and Valeria Taylor.  This seat has been open since Barry Burleson resigned last year.

For Place 4, incumbent Kris Burleson will face Brian Vickery.

For Place 5, incumbent Donna Jones is the only one who qualified.

 

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City School system will soon be facing a pivotal election to fill a vacant seat on the school board, as well as vote on two more seats with expiring terms.

WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying for the Tuesday, May 24, primary elections ended Friday, Jan. 28, leaving candidates for sheriff and county commission district 1 facing opposition, while the commission district 2 seat will be unopposed.

WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying for upcoming municipal and Haleyville Board of Election races ended Tuesday, July 21, at 5 p.m. The Alabamian is gathering information today regarding who qualified, and will post it as it becomes available.
