Suspect in Tuesday's officer shooting and standoff dead

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Jeffery Lee Adair, the suspect in the shooting of a Double Springs Police Department officer and ensuing standoff, has reportedly died at the Winston County Jail, where he was being held.  No further details regarding his death have been released at this time.

At the Winston County Sheriff's Office's request, the State Bureau of Investigation will be handling the investigation into Adair's death, Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy stated.

ARLEY - Former Arley Mayor Brent Harbison passed away Monday, Aug. 3.  He served as Mayor of Arley from 1972-1984 and played a vital part in the town's success in many different areas.
