Haleyville woman who lost everything in house fire in need of help

HALEYVILLE - A Haleyville woman whose home was recently heavily damaged in a fire is now living out of her car and in need of help.

Connie Dodd, of 1874 County Road 30 in Haleyville, was thankfully not at home when fire engulfed her home Monday night, May 16.  The Haleyville Fire Department responded quickly and, with assistance from Pebble and Bear Creek fire departments, was able to put out the fire.

Sadly, the entire interior of the home was gutted, with the heaviest damage toward the back of the house.

The Alabamian initially reported on this fire in our May 25, edition.  At that time, firefighters noted that Dodd had found a place to stay.  According to Dodd, who visited the Alabamian office last week, that is not the case.  She received $500 from the American Red Cross to help with necessary supplies, but is living in her car on her property and is in need of any assistance.  She is also facing significant health difficulties, she noted, which is making it impossible for her to work at this time.

Anyone who would like to help Dodd is welcome to call her at (205) 269-1731.  Dodd is grateful for any assistance she can receive.
