CULLMAN - Cullman Regional Medical Center is taking every precaution to provide for the safety of their patients and staff during the international Coronavirus-19, or COVID-19 outbreak. To that end, they have opened up a COVID-19 information number residents can call where they can determine if they need hospital care. The number is (256) 735-5530.
"We have treated communicable diseases for many years, so we understand the precautions that must be taken in terms of isolating patients, limiting visitors and having employees wear protective clothing. Plans are in place," hospital officials stated in a press release Friday afternoon, March 13.
Members of the public to follow the state’s guidelines if they feel sick:
1. Call your doctor and get directions on what to do next.
2. If your doctor's office is closed, call an urgent care center or your local hospital. (You can call Cullman Regional's COVID-19 information line at 256-735-5530 to determine if you need hospital care).
3. If you don't need to see a doctor, keep your distance from others.
4. Wear a mask and cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
"The possibility of having a contagious illness is scary, but doctors, nurses and other caregivers are learning more about COVID-19 every day. We are working together with national and state agencies to identify and provide care to patients while avoiding spread of the illness in the community," Cullman Regional officials said.
