Addison receives additional fire truck

ADDISON - Updated equipment is imperative for first responders, and emergency response vehicles make that list. One department sometimes declares vehicles as surplus and sells them to other departments. Addison Volunteer Fire Department benefited from one such surplus recently.
Members of the AVFD came to Addison Town Hall just before the regular monthly meeting Monday, March 15, to show the council members the fire truck they received from Belforest Volunteer Fire Department in Daphne. The vehicle is a 1997 International 4900.
“We bought this truck to upgrade from a 1979 engine,” Addison Fire Chief Mark Wilson said.
“Belforest VFD is very proud to pass down one of our beloved trucks to another Alabama volunteer fire department that can greatly use it,” reads a statement released by the BVFD. “Addison Volunteer Fire Department purchased our old Engine 52 to add to their fleet. We are so honored to be able to share this great truck with them, knowing it will serve them and their community well.”
While this was a used truck, the AVFD will also receive a new 2021 model truck, which should be delivered to the town near the end of this year.
