Hyche and Wiggins reel in big scholarships

SMITH LAKE - It may seem like elementary age is too early to think about college scholarships, but two Addison Elementary students have already been awarded a combined $140,000 in scholarships to Kentucky Christian University based on their fishing skills.

WINSTON COUNTY - The compassion shown by the late Terry Wayne “Bubba” Lewis to his automotive technology students at the Winston Career Academy is a legacy that will never be forgotten and is being honored by the establishment of a memorial scholarship.

Half-tuition scholarship opportunity for NW-SCC students with 30 credit hours

WINSTON COUNTY - Northwest-Shoals Community College (NW-SCC), which has campuses in Phil Campbell and Muscle Shoals, is offering students who have completed at least 30 credit hours at NW-SCC an opportunity to finish their college degree or certificate program with less financial burden this fall through the Continuing Excellence Scholarship. The deadline to apply for the half-tuition scholarship is Monday, August 1, 2022.

ADDISON - Savannah Manley is definitely a champion. She has played on three state championship volleyball teams - 2016-2018 and state runner-up this past 2019 season at Addison High School.
The 6’1” senior will now play at the next level this fall, signing a volleyball scholarship with Gadsden State, who finished 26-12 this past season with a trip to the nationals.
Her scholarship signing ceremony was held Friday, Jan. 10, in the AHS library.

Sartin signs with Bevill State to play softball

HALEYVILLE - Anna Lacy Sartin will be joining the Bevill State Community College’s softball team next fall.
The Haleyville High School senior will be on the pitching staff at the Sumiton campus.

HALEYVILLE - Ana Aaron is a focused young lady. The Haleyville High School senior signed a softball scholarship with Marion Military Institute Monday, Dec. 2, during a ceremony held in the high school library. She will be on the pitching staff.

McCollum inks scholarship with Shorter

BEAR CREEK - There were lots of smiles and tears as Ally McCollum signed her basketball scholarship with Shorter University Friday, Nov. 22, marking the start of a new chapter in her life.
Ally, a senior at Phillips High School in Bear Creek, will play for the Division 2 college in Rome, Georgia.
A scholarship signing ceremony was conducted in the PHS gym with students, teammates, faculty, friends  and family all on hand. She received a big round of applause as she signed on the dotted line.

Lambert awarded AHSADCA’s scholarship


Mason Lambert, 2019 graduate of Haleyville High School, received a AHSADCA’s Coaches’ Children Scholarship at the 23rd annual AHSAA Championship Coaches’Awards Banquet for District 7. He is pictured with his parents Andy and Amber Lambert.

MONTGOMERY – Seven individuals were recognized at the AHSAA’s 23rd  annual AHSAA Championship Coaches’ Awards Banquet as recipients of the prestigious “Making A Difference” Award as the 2019 AHSAA Summer Conference concluded at the Montgomery Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.
