HALEYVILLE - The process of obtaining the required number of signatures on a petition calling for a referendum to allow Winston County voters to decide whether alcoholic beverages should be sold throughout the county is facing its share of obstacles.
WINSTON COUNTY - The Alabama Legislature is constitutionally required to draw new congressional and state legislative distrct boundaries the year after a census is taken, and public hearings are being held across the state so residents can make their voices heard on how these lines should be drawn.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Fire Fighters Association met at the Double Springs Municipal Building Tuesday, July 28, for their monthly meeting. Before the business meeting, State Representatives Tracy Estes and Tim Wadsworth distributed checks to each fire department.
ARLEY - Phase 2 of a multi-faceted project bringing high speed internet access to residents around Arley, will set 38 miles of fiber optic cable and service to 800 residents thanks to $2.35 million in state broadband funding administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
WINSTON COUNTY - It was announced Friday, April 10, that Capstone Rural Health Center will receive $652,160 in federal funding to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

ARLEY - Senate Majority Leader Greg Reed has announced that the Town of Arley has received a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to be used for law enforcement needs.
